Surgical Services
General Surgery

In order to provide your pet with advanced, safe and comprehensive surgical care, our hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art surgery suite, highly sophisticated anesthesia machines and the latest in patient monitoring devices. From routine procedures such as spays and neuters, to more complex orthopedic, soft-tissue and emergency surgeries, Dr. Arrick and the veterinarians at Park Animal Hospital have decades of surgical experience and are ready to treat your injured pet if the need arises.
Pain management is an important part of our pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocols. All surgical patients, including those undergoing routine procedures, receive pain control medication. During surgery, as well as during the recovery period, your pet is continuously monitored with a variety of devices, including pulse oximeter and ECG. In addition, an intravenous (IV) catheter is used to deliver fluids to your pet during surgery and during his or her recovery.
During surgery, our veterinarians are assisted by certified veterinary technicians who have been trained in surgical technology and receive continuing education on a regular basis. Working alongside the surgeons, our technicians keep a very close watch on the patient and the monitoring equipment.
Orthopedic surgery
Dr. Rob Arrick and the veterinarians at Park Animal Hospital have had excellent success in treating orthopedic injuries in dogs and cats. Some of the orthopedic procedures that we perform at Park Animal Hospital include fracture repairs, joint surgery and bone biopsies. We have also had excellent success in repairing torn anterior cruciate ligaments (the most common knee injury in dogs and cats) as well as patella (kneecap) luxations.
We always have our patients' best interests at heart, and if there is a procedure that is beyond our knowledge or technical expertise, a board-certified veterinary surgery specialist performs the procedures at our hospital.
